The leaders of the EU, not exactly a weak and powerless union, today announced that Russia was almost in a state of war with not just the Ukraine, but with the West too. Strong words, but Russia (read Putin) has proved conclusively that she/he cares not a jot for the interests of any country in the West, that she willgo after what she wants in the firm belief that her military might will cow those who would face up to her. Sounds familiar? Over the last half a million years? The only lessons men have learned from history is how to make bigger and better mistakes. The Russian leaders believe that too many internal pressures are weakening resolve, and that's an awareness of pressures of terrorism from Islamic nutters. They believe that we cannot take-on everything we face.
Although there is a definite modicum of truth in all this - we are still very strong, very dedicated to survive all the slings and arrows, and that Russia's game is becoming dangerous to her also. Big time. The next few days are crucial.
