Since my adolescence and emerging awareness of world events/wars/constant hatreds based on unimportant things/the sex war which is so destructive once the gags wear thin, Ive traveled the world and tapped the global kaleidoscope a few times, served in the Forces and put my life on the line for what? To protect people and the status quo of establishments. With all the background experience and knowledge gained, still the human condition never ceases to disturb me. So many try to be humane and kind, to bring a smile to the faces of others; yet so many try to bring societies to their knees, and hatreds seem to fill their souls - that's not not a religious connotation but a word that covers the inner man and woman, the true psyche. Here in England we have this pathetic 'sex war' being practiced and perpetuated by female writers in newspapers who glory in self-love, extolling the qualities and always the looks and sexual attractiveness of the female to the point where I and friends get a bit outraged by the suppression of we men and our qualities. Is it all worth while I sometimes wonder? This planet is so unique; It's beautiful, relative to our size as humans it's spacious, contains a fabulous diversity of living things - many beautiful, some savage, some inoffensive, many killers - it is after all a 'dog eat dog' world for most of us. Their are many people who try to achieve a world-wide peace based on mutual cooperation and respect, but all their efforts flounder on the alters of egos, jealousy and a constant lust for power. OK, I;m just a voice in the wilderness, but how I wish all our past history could be crystallized into a world-wide acceptance that the fighting, the hatreds are all crude and ugly aspects of our species which should be squashed and cauterized from our thoughts and feelings.
It's a well know physical fact that we have to use twenty muscles to frown, ten to smile. So unless we need the facial exercise, keep on smiling. It costs nothing.
