Initially, in our long and tedious development from ape to 'man', the difference between the sexes was too basic and fundamental to be other than procreation. Men went on the hunt to provide food. Family units developed in order to protect kids, to bring out the warmth and companionship that existed in our emotional make-up, to have sex on tap without having to resort to the club on the head and raping. Of course, this was the norm for such a sub-species as man-ape three million years ago. Gradually things changed as our brains grew larger and logical thought began to control emotions; and with those changes came 'morals', creativity and thre construction of better tools, wheels to allow for transport. The human world became more sophisticated at an alarming rate quite suddenly during the latter centuries - almost like the logarithmic curve which has a long base but then moves higher and quicker, progressively out of proportion to the initial commencement. And so we reach this present day. Rich in technology, weapons and delivery systems for them. Nuclear subs which each have devastating destructive power. On paper we are a super-race. Yet emotionally we are still unstable animals subject to moods of violence, personal hatreds and jealousies. These diametrically opposed qualities bring out stress which results in thousands of murders a day throughout the world. Many may not deserve such a fate, others provoke it through ignorance.
To instill and enforce discipline and respect in our various societies, we have introduced a legal system - the creating of laws, which, if broken brings about penalties. All so simple, and showing a desire to live in a 'civilized' way. Some countries have come to terms with the passions which lie below the surface of men and women, boys and girls and allow for 'crime passionelle' pleas, showing a human and compassionate understanding of what we really are as people - capable of being driven beyond normal control. This originated in France, a country which was the avant- garde country regarding the understanding of human emotions playing such an important role in our lives. Yet still we kill and destroy on such a scale we will never achieve the true balance animals have in their daily lives. For them it's ill or be killed but in between raise a family and try to be happy. Only we and certain of our ape ancestors kill for pleasure or personal gain.
One aspect of our development has always had a parallel theme growing in direct proportion - sexual jealousies, man versus women. As men proved his intellectual and creative genius, women developed jealousies. They had their own egos which needed satisfaction and so used sexual attractiveness to lure and manipulate men. Also a desire to diminish and ridicule the male of the species. Their own frustrations were increased as they also need companionship with sex. a man to always be there to comfort and protect. An analysis of that usage is too complex a structure to be condensed here in a sentence.
Coming to the present day, sexuality has become the main player in our awareness. Politics is important, threats from enemies abroad are prevalent, but the main thread throughout our lives is sex. A law was introduced which was hoped - by shallow men and women - to be be a panacea to soothe all jealousies between the two sexes. It has had almost the opposite effect, imbueing women with a desire for 'supremacy', to show the world that they are, ultimately the most powerful and interesting. No longer 'suppressed' by men, but full f potential and eager to get flying. Ah!!!, cry the women, this article is written by a man full of sour grapes - short, fat and unattractive. Not the tall, handsome guy we women all like, especially if there is a glint of the rogue in his eyes. Sorry to shoot down the stereotypical psychology, but I'm not the former but much of the latter who simply writes what he has witnessed through the formative years. Witnessing the treatment of my friends who, though not tall and dashing, were highly intelligent guys of great character, uyet I would get the eye and respect while they were ignored because they were not matching the approved 'type'
Here in England at the moment, we're in the process of approving a woman who is prominent enough to appear on a banknote. This has brought out enough venom to fill a billion snakes. The animosity shown by men is surprising. Women bite back, and the sex war thing is alive and well and screaming blue murder. As you in the States do, we have 'soaps' on our TV. They are a bit sickening regarding putting women on pedestals and deliberately showing hapless males in dim light. I cannot watch them due to the puerility and sanctimoniousness of the scripts. The sets are full of over-painted females who strut their boring stuff face to face with weak men who back off any argument with a few 'sorry' words which turn my stomach over. This is why my self-employment is so satisfying. My pride and ego are both allowed to settle down to a sensible level, and I don't have to be a slave to cleavage and other pathetic ploys which women use each and every day. I have been known to be savage in argument with a woman when I am taken for a fool by a dominant female - but do not make a habit of it. It's futile. For her that is. I sail serenely on wishing not to be part of much of my fellow man's life. Sex wars can be bad for your health. This should be printed on all foreheads.
